Riverside RV Resort
Newsletter – Winter 2018

Hello Riverside Family,

Your Riverside crew is eager for your return for the winter. We are all still here! As you know the hurricane did minimal damage but is keeping us busy. Don’t drive by us…the big sign has not been replaced yet.

Safe Travels
Sue and the crew

Hi, Everyone -

I just wanted to say I can’t wait for Y’All to get back here to your winter home. I have missed you!! We have a lot of fun and exciting things to do this season. Sue and the staff and myself have been working to get everything ready for you here. Dieter, MRHM, (My Right Hand Man) has been hard at work on the winter calendar, getting it ready, and I’m going to have a new helper this season, Dianna from the Office.

So, I will be waiting for your arrival; don’t forget to bring all of your partying items and attire. We will once again have an unforgettable season and make more memories.

See you soon,
Sandy Clark
Activities Director

Riverside’s Special Website for Campers

  1. It’s called riversidesnowbirds.com, and there you will find all information and details about all activities, events, clubs, dinner dances, cruise, trips, the Calendar, etc. etc. And much more ….

If you have never registered for this Snowbird website before, you should register for it and CREATE an account to access the website. Go to:

          Look for:

• left side bar - “LOGIN” box
• select “Create an Account”
• follow the instructions – supply the requested information

NOTE: ‘Confirm’ password, email – means – TYPE IT AGAIN -> Register

Do get into the habit of checking the riversidesnowbirds.com website daily smiley emoticon.

The other fantastic feature of this website is the automatic emails and information – called Notifications!

B. Riverside Snowbirds “Notifications”

You will receive automatic email notifications from us. BUT – you must be signed up for them. Here’s how – be sure you are logged in to:

<http://www.riversidesnowbirds.com>  (see A. above)

For first time ever “Notification” users:

-> (top menu)        Go to:    Notifications – then choose “Subscribe”
-> Follow the instructions, and select the group(s) that you would like to receive Notifications from.

We strongly suggest that you select “Snowbirds Alerts”, to automatically receive Riverside information in your personal email, that relates to the whole Park.

On the front page you will see a “normal calendar” with the monthly special, “one-time”, non-weekly events, such as our Dances, Blood Drive, Concerts, State and other Parties, Special Happenings, Ice cream Socials, etc.

On the back side of the page you will see the regular, weekly activities, such as bowling, cards, Church, exercising, etc. Also included are bi-weekly events, such as Book Club, JULIETs, dancing, classes, etc. with their actual dates beside them, e.g. Book Club (1/4, 18) etc.

Please NOTE:

  1. The special, non-weekly events on the front page take precedence over the regular weekly events. Every precaution has been taken to avoid conflicts; everyone involved in the scheduling of the events has been notified, but sometimes a special last-minute change does come up.
  2. Except for #1 above, we do not “bump” any activity or groups from their time or place. If, for special circumstances, 2 groups wish to make a special, personal arrangement between themselves, that’s up to them. But then please let me, Dieter, know. This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
  3. For any “impromptu” special events, meetings, rehearsals, etc., we ask that you also contact me, for availability.

To avoid conflicts, everything must go through my MASTER Calendar – NOT THE OFFICE.   Just because a place seems to be empty, somebody could be coming in shortly, so - to avoid any conflicts, problems, always please contact me, Dieter, NOT the Office, NOT Sandy, but me, Dieter – This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..   Thanks.

Campers’ Directory

As always, there will again be a Riverside Campers’ Directory.  All entries are voluntary, but are most valuable in contacting Riverside friends. The Directory is ONLY for “Riversiders” who submit Directory information, and will be available mid - January. Detailed information and the directory submission form will be sent out by Jim Williams, our “Computer Guru”.

Note:   Everyone who wishes to be in the Directory, must fill out the directory submission form, even if you were in it the last year(s)!

Coordinators’ List – this is a list of all contact persons or Coordinators for the different activities. It is found in your Directory. Please contact them for specific interest or information about an activity. It is also an alphabetical list of all activities and events, and their times and dates.

Soccer Golf by Wally Gorak

“Soccer ball golf” is just that – soccer on a golf course!  You play golf using a soccer ball and your feet, no clubs or other instruments.  Our one time try had all athletic levels competing very well.  Much easier than golf and more fun than a good day of golf. Afterwards we all stopped for a beer and a burger, which was fun, too. Thanks - Wally - E-mail: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Coordinators still needed (or need to confirm):

… for the following groups:

  • Michigan Party
  • Mid-Atlantic Party
  • Intermediate Walking
  • Wine & Cheese Welcome

After last year’s hilarious “Savannah Sipping Society,” we have decided to get together for another afternoon of fun and laughter!!

We have 57 tickets reserved for a buffet luncheon and matinee show at the

Off-Broadway Palm Theatre on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 to see:

The Hallelujah Girls

From the writers of “The Savannah Sipping Society” comes this all-new, rollicking Southern comedy. The Hallelujah Girls will have you laughing all the way to the SPA-DEE-DAH, the abandoned church-turned-day-spa where a group of friends gather every Friday. The women rally together to overcome the many hurdles life throws at them, which give you a side-splitting, joyful comedy that will make you laugh out loud and shout “Hallelujah!”

The ticket price is $50 and that includes the buffet lunch, show, taxes and gratuity.

You can sign up individually, in pairs or in groups of 4, and we will do our best to seat you together. We will all be sitting at random tables for lunch, but the theatre tickets will be for specifically assigned seats.

How can I sign up?

Beginning December 1, please contact Bonnie Culhane at Riverside:

Email: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
Or, in person at Site 25

We must have your payment by Tuesday, January 9. If you won’t be arriving at Riverside until after January 9, then please confirm with Bonnie and then mail your check, payable to “Riverside Snowbirds”, to:

 ROMEO’s –   Note that there will be 2 re-organizational get-togethers:

 - THU JAN 4 and JAN 11, at our usual time,
- 8 a.m., in the PIC area.

Due to the sudden passing in June of our beloved founder and organizer, Gerald Essington, aka Mr. ROMEO, we would like to revisit the organizational aspects of the ROMEO’s at those times.

Pool News –

Fishing Derby & Photography Club – Both CANCELLED this season. Not enough interest, and probably not enough “cameras” around anymore.

There are 5 different concerts or musical events planned for this year:

  1. “New Odyssey Concert “

After a very successful concert series in 2017, we look forward to presenting “New Odyssey” also known as Three Men - Thirty Instruments. New Odyssey has been performing nationwide for the past thirty years. They have wowed audiences at a great variety of venues with their brilliant musicality and state of the art equipment. A combination of three great musicians each proficient in a variety of instruments while having excellent voices for individual solos and great harmony all while throwing in a bit of humor to keep you on your toes. This concert, which is partially subsidized as a result of the great success of 2017 shows, will offer a great evening of entertainment for a mere $10 per person. Tickets will be on sale during Tuesday morning coffee time or at the door.

Don Paye, Chair, Concert Committee

  1. Gospel Concert - Thanks to the suggestion and organization by Ken Maye, there will be a Gospel Concert, Sun Jan 28, 1:30 – 2:30 in the PAV with a ‘free love Offering”. Watch for further announcements, details and reminders at Coffee and on com.
  1. “Keiser, McCoy & Coleman”

Saturday Evening, February 17, 2018

Back by popular demand the Riverside Concert Committee is happy to present Richard Keiser, Charlie McCoy and Jason Coleman who last performed at Riverside for a sold-out concert back in 2013. All legends of Nashville, their combined talents on harmonica, guitar and piano plus two backup musicians, are bound to thoroughly entertain you. Richard Keiser is a Country Gospel Music Hall of Fame Inductee, while Charlie McCoy is a ‘Country Music Hall of Famer” and Hee Haw Star. Jason Coleman, grandson of the famous pianist Floyd Cramer, is an outstanding piano/keyboard player. This concert will impress everyone as three top performers present their talent individually as well as in combination. This will be an evening not to miss and each of you will be well entertained and impressed. Again, cost is a mere $10 with part of the expense supported from the success of the 2017 season.

Don Paye, Chair, Concert Committee

  1. “Chorus Showcase” – a fun, musical evening, by our very renowned, musical master of stage and ‘tom foolery’, none other than our very own Lee Steels, who, together with his fabulous Chorus, will entertain us royally on Thu Mar 1. Details, of course: “riversidesnowbirds.com”

  2. “Barbershop Harmony Showcase” presented by the ‘Suncoast Statesmen’
  • For all music and Barbershop lovers - Sun Mar 25, 2018 – watch for further details at Coffees, on riversidesnowbirds.com
  • Contact Gene Gallucci # 235, for tickets.

Mardi Gras

This year there will be no dance, but instead a terrific Parade, then Happy Hour, then your personal dinner, then an Ice Cream Social. See the Calendar.

Some of the Parade Ideas from the different clubs and activities are: pickle ballers, cheerleaders, kayakers, doggie (pet) lovers, JULIET’s, decorated Golf Carts, Country Dancers, Line Dancers, Model Airplanes, etc. etc. etc.

Dress as up or down as you wish – do real Mardi Gras imitations, or invent whatever theme you wish! Bring stuff from home, too!

Bean Bag Toss

A fun idea of Bill Kenney’s, #70, this activity will take place in the Picnic area, Wed’s and Fri’s. See the Calendar and Coordinators’ List for times & details.

And all this is just the tip of the ‘iceberg of activities’ - so, y’all have a good time this winter – ‘y’a hear’ !!!  smiley emoticon
